Its all fun and games... at least for the time being. [11 Jan 2008|02:41am]

[ music | [Computer Games] George Clinton - Man's Best Friend / Loopzilla ]

-Team Fortress 2 (PC)
Goddamn! This game is superb! I LOVE IT. Although, I can't help myself shake off the feeling that its generally an incomplete game. Polished, but unfinished. Maybe its the fact that there are only 6 official levels? Sure, Some of them can be played differently every time but its not the same as having a bunch of good maps that can each provide a unique experience.

-Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)
Its a fun game and I like it, that you can be assured of. But it seems like another misstep in the series. I guess what i can say is, Like the previous mario game, It seems to lack the wonder and imagination of the older mario games. It doesn't explore the possibilities granted to plucky old mario and the worlds in which he travels. Nothing in the game really sticks out as special, quirky, or unique in any of the galaxies mario visits. Something which it to be expected of good mario game.

-KOF98 on GGPO.net (PC, Emulation)
So king of fighters 98 has been added to ggpo's roster of games. What's special about this, rather than just playing it over kaillera like we have been for the past few years, is that the ggpo guys have managed to streamline the network code and provide a decent matchmaking client to the whole playing old arcade games over the internet deal. Its nice. I like it because when I just want to play other people I can just log in and people will challenge you or you can challenge them. Pretty much streamlines the whole finding someone to play with problem.

Now to learn how to play this game aaaaaaaaaaaaaalllll over again cause i know all of the fine folks over at #comrades are going to play it heavily.

Although, to be honest, As much as i love fighting games, I've never been extremely good at them. So, compared to some of these guys, It's like they're holding back a midget with one hand on his head. I'm all like, "I GOTCHA BITCH! SUPER COM--!! YOU PARRIED MY SUPER COMBO!?!" and I end up holding my head down in shame cause I got robbed.

-Yuusha no kuse ni namaikida (PSP, import)
Wow. A good psp game that is not a port or down-sampled franchise game of any kind. UNIQUE even!
The gist is, you play an evil demon king who lives underground with plans to rule the world unfortunately heroes from a nearby kingdom step up and invade your underground, monster filled, fortress to capture you. a fairly simple game. you spawn slimes by breaking down moldy walls, They suck the nutrients out of other walls and consolidate the nearby nutrients creating more nutrient rich rocks. When you bust those down you get stronger monsters which wander around and do their thing along with eating other monsters when they are hungry. A nice quick arcade game which i have yet to beat.

-No more heroes ( Wii, release date: Jan 22 2008)
I am excited for this due to the fact that its one of the first few interesting looking games for the wii. It looks fun but it may be repetitive. Then again, most of the greatest brawling games are fairly repetitive but maintain that good vibes fun i love.

Here's a youtubed trailer.

Let the bloodshed begin! Especially considering the fact that the american version will be the uncut version as the japanese version just has everyone turn to dust when they die..

-Smash Bros: Brawl. ( Wii, release date: Feb 10 2008)

I feel great excitement for this game. Seems like its going to be yet another fun multiplayer brawler game. The last one, "Melee" was fun as hell and with this one not only offering Multiplayer offline fun, but Multiplayer online fun (AND with more than 1 player per console!) as well. so yeah, this is going to be hot stuff. It even has Sonic the hedgehog and Solid Snake in it too. Finally the greatest of video game rivalries can be resolved, Sonic vs Mario!, and Snake going through his toughest mission yet! Its all the giddiness of a fanwank game mixed with the polish of a professional product and good easy to pick up gameplay.

Here are some commercials for the japanese version due out on the 24th of january.

And you can get the latest updates/spoilers on the website. http://www.smashbros.com/

Thats all for now.

Tell me what you think.

wheeeee.. [16 Feb 2007|12:54am]
so.. I got myself a wii. precisely, the last wii in harlem.

Its a beautiful system. I havent had so much fun punching air in a long while.

so.. Lets trade "friend codes", people. Post them here and they'll be added. we can share miis or something till a nice online game comes out whenever that may be.

On a side note, "bleach ds 2nd" was released recenly. Its better than the last one too. As far as portable fighters go its not too half bad. Although, there isnt much selection out there when it comes to portable fighting games. its either this, KOF:EX2(GBA),and Jump ultimate stars. notice how i dont mention anything from the psp's line-up. well thats because the DPAD on the psp is absolutely terrible. you cant even hit the daigonals with it[*] so its pretty much like not being able to play them properly at all. This fact makes me dissapointed. but anyway, i'll be playing the game online every so often until i get bored with it and play something else. so if you have it and want to battle, give me a damn or two.

on a final note, Long Island is a terrible terrible place.

------
[*] i hear the newer psp models have a slightly better d-pad although i do not know weather or not you can hit diagonals with it. also, i heard there was a dpad attachment that would make it work like a regular dpad. any of you know where i may find one?

more sketching.. [19 Jan 2006|11:52pm]
hello again, all you "looking-glass" people.

meh, i'm still a-o-k, for the most part. so far, this week has been very unlucky for me. with everything whizzing by so fast that i can barely keep up, i've still managed to keep my cool for the most part.

hmmm. yes. whoo..

i seem to be having trouble thinking up of what to write here really. i mean sure i can complain for days on end about how crappy my job is and how much i need a break from having to overwork myself. but, not only would it be a pain to write out but it would generally be meaningless in the long run. especially for me, because i usually tend to "keep my eyes on the road" and not look back at things too often. oh well.

regarding my current status:

entertainment-wise, i've been enjoying the DS and a few of its games such as "Pheonix Wright". it think the whole touch pad thing was a good idea on nintendo's part and is another positive aspect of this well made (although slighty cheap feeling) system.

regarding the wife-hunt, i have yet to find any new targets worth attemping to court. i really need to pick up the pace.

financially, I'm doin good. just have to find a new job within the local area quick lest i go down with the current ship i'm on.

physicall, i'm out of shape. once school sets in and i get settled into the new rythm, i'm going to start pushing myself really hard and maybe try to raise my morale a bit.

thats about it.

anyhow..

i've been practicing doodling some more. if you got any complaints about it just bitch about it, like you kids usually do, and i'll try to go about and fix it next time i'm on.

segata sanshiro (a.k.a hiroshi fujioka). i like these sega saturn commercials. rather than pursuade you to buy their product, they outright tell you so. that is a bold maneuvere, indeed.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
something original. i really didnt like how it turned out, but i like the design. i might redo it again soon.

These next batch of images are different. I've made these in open canvas, meaning that i saved the event files. in other words you can watch how i go about doing things. In order to open .WPE files you need to have a copy of the open canvas application itself. windows only from my knowlege. i dont know if a mac version exists.

which you can get here: http://valenz.org/pics/opencanvas.zip

let's go then.

i was mining around the various X-chans for images to practice painting with. hmm. interestingly enough the picture this doodle was based off is of a guy. still a good picture though. i need to work in a more higher resolution..

i plucked this one off 2chan.net. kamen rider hibiki. remind me to clear some HD space to download that show.

meh, some kunio-kun fanart. i was trying to study the way i draw with this one. it helped me a tad. needs more muscle though.

this sketch was more or less done on the fly. no planning whatsoever. came out kinda crappy. some pheonix wright fanart of "maya fey".

finally. here are some collaborations between a few folks. mostly with chao-one and ana.
they are more talented than i.

doodle doodle... [09 Jan 2006|11:43pm]
yeah. so i bought one of them fancy wacom tablets. Its costly as fuck but its strangely worthwhile.
i'm still getting accustomed to its little quirks like the little buttons on the side of the pen and on the tablet itself.

meh... so i says to meself.. "Why not start a small sketch journal thing?".

and so i will, k?
maybe i will update like every other day or so with some of the better sketchies.

#1

this was my first doodle with the said tablet. kinda crummy. but eh, whatever...

#2

here was a doodle right after that one.. i figured out the whole pressure sensitivity things so.. yay!
i like sonic better than shadow even though shadow does look a wee bit cooler than sonic. i feel the need to play a speed induced game thats not neccessarily a racing game.. any suggestions?

#3

haha.. this was the fourth doodle with the new tablet.. the third one was a pretty girl that didnt come out pretty at all. i have a real good question. can any of you reccomend me any movies/tvshows/animations regarding japanese thugs of the highschool variety? any of the non-highschool varaiety would also be nice. i need somethin' else to watch, you know..

and thats it for today.

another question.. does this strech the tables for you? i will gladly modify the html to accomidate you.

bleh. if you have any requests.. post them and i might draw them if it doesnt piss me off or if i have time... k?

True Neutral

Plane of Existence: The Outlands, "Plane of Concordant Opposition". Description: The plane between all other outer planes.

Batman

The Punisher

Switzerland

Canada

Not actively for or against anything. Has his or her own reasons for doing everything. Usually difficult to understand.

Will keep their word if in their best interest

Indifferent to higher authority

Indifferent to organizations

True Neutral

"Balancer"

Some neutral [people] commit themselves philosophically to
neutrality. They are of the true neutral alignment as described in
Advanced Dungeons & Dragons.

A true neutral [person] sees good, evil, law, and chaos as
prejudices and dangerous extremes. He advocates the middle way of
neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run.

Some true neutral [people] actively support balance in the world,
and seek to avoid having any one side, law or chaos, good or evil,
become too powerful over them or anyone else, and will work against
whichever side is the most powerful. They tend to side with the
underdog in any situation, and are often opportunistic in their
actions.

True neutral is committed to the avoidance of extremes, and is non-judgemental.

Side-Note from Xan81:

Due to your Neutrality, I would really, really LOVE your
feedback. Not that I don't want feedback from members of the other
alignments, but a True Neutral's feeback is typically NOT emotionally,
morally, politically, or socially charged. Please send me an email! I
have it set to automatically email me when someone gets this score, so
I know who you are ;) True Neutrals are the classic, "I just don't give
a shit" alignment, and I fully understand if you don't feel that you
have any responsability or obligation to sending an email/comment. Even
if you did, I'm sure you'd have some difficulty in deciding what to
comment about. But, I guess that depends on your tendencies :D

i feel horrible....
oh man...

i ever since i lost that most special mechanical pencil i have felt all my sketching skills fade away... i guess it was magical... coupled with that is my usual "not feeling well" mopey state....

man i feel bad....

shoot... so anyway... i kept reading that "20th century boys" manga... and damn it... Its beautiful.. the best thing i've read since i started reading a while back... the "bad guy's" evil plan was so crazy... it worked... the bastard took over the world..
its very rare to read something in which the villan is actually sucessful...to an extent..

it appears to now be winding down to the exiting finale... but now that the "villan" rules the world.. i wonder how the "heroes" plan on stopping him...
1 comment|Tell me what you think.

20th Century boys.. [25 Nov 2004|01:37am]
man.. never have i ever read a manga that pulled me around as a dog on a leash like 20th Century boys.

jesus... this shit is nice... from the title, it seems like some gay crap, which it isnt at all. what makes it very refreshing is that its not all about boobies and action... which is different from most of the anime/manga i'm usually exposed to...let me give you a small description...

its a gripping tale of a group of children who often played games of "Saving the world" and dreamed of becoming heroes respected all throuout the land. but one day, they questioned what it would be like to be the villans and they recorded their imaginative plans. Plans which were only meant to be seen by that small circle of friends who are bonded by a symbol of thier friendship.. 28 years later, a string of odd events, the appearance of a cult/secret society that uses that symbol causes Kenji, one of the friends, to realize that something is DEFINATELY wrong. And when events of thier "evil plan" start actually occuring in real life.. Some on has to step up and save the world..

from there it just goes nuts with the plot twists and the very interesting story..

i particularly like the art in this manga... its very good. and there's lots of variation between the different people. I also like the variation of the different characters.. they have every thing from dancing trannies to a foreshadowing homeless man called God. hell, theres even a giant robot or two... if you can call it that...

all in all.. i recommend you pick it up and read it all.. a "must-read"..

i myself got it off a topic at herv where someone was kind enough to post all the volumes...

where you can get it..-

if you like it.. please pass on this goodness elsewhere... "share the wealth" i always say...
its not good to be greasy and not share here on the internet..
Tell me what you think.

yawn.. [20 Nov 2004|12:52am]
another day.. another way....i guess..

i picked up a copy of the first volume of "The Maxx" at my local librairy (they are really expanding the GFX novel section). as i remember reading a few of them in the past(and watched the TV show)... i really like it more so now... its a very crazy assed tale with great artwork (which fits the mood nicely)... i reccomend you pick it up..

i've also been practicing drawing more... my current art block is annoying me... thank god its receding...and somehow leaving behind some more talent... as i seem to have "magically" improved a bit more... maybe i shouldn't rush it....but i really want to doodle some more... and my scanner is collecting dust...

bleh... i feel as i am sucked by this thing into writing all of my precious life's tale and its stories of misfotune.... but i shan't give in to its whims... no way, my friends...

as for other noose. i have played Zelda: The minnish cap... all in all... its recycled zeldamables... everything is so formulaic in this game... and it has no soul of its own.... the people seem flat even though they somewhat convice (in other words, FORCE) you to interact with them.. its unatural... it does have its interesting quirks though... but not enough to make this game seem livelier..

i recommend you buy Link's awakening instead... now thats some lively, vibrant, and portable "Link X Adventure" action right there..

bleh... i'm off.. toodles...
Tell me what you think.

do you ever feel like you're out of the temmporal loop? [07 Nov 2004|10:08am]
